Ode To Angels (Renewed)

"Very heartfelt"

date: October 27, 2006

This song had a lot of interesting aspects to it:
The first thing I noticed was how the final chord is different than the first one, I just thought that was kind of cool:D

I loved how after the first segment, you went into the minor progression; You had the minor, went down a tone to a moajor chord, and then ANOTHER tone down to a maj7, I LOVE THAT PROGRESSION! It's so sweet and gentle, I have used it MANY times in my music, and I know how useful it can be, so extra points simply for using that.

Just when I thought it was over, you surpised me with a little gentle piano at the end. It was very sweet and soft.

I liked how you didn't use any percussion in this song either, it really brings out the piano.

My ONLY concern about this work is that it didn't really remind me of angels, some of the tones seemed a little harsh.

Great Job with this, and I look forward to hearing more of your songs!

Clayton

(If you listen to my song, "Arlulu", you might find that it is similar to some of your songs, only a little sadder:("

Drowning Sunset

"Good, but a little bland"

submission: Drowning Sunset

Hey, I really liked this.
Everything was great, except for one thing.
My only problem with this piece is lacking of melody. You had a great base line, but the treble side of the song didn't really have a melody, it just sort of played the chords that the base needed.
Also, it didn't really sound like it had that much feeling in it:(

I really liked the chord progression, but SOMETIMES, the constant use of maj7 chords can be a little awkward if they are repeatitive, so keep that in mind for your next piece.

I will be keeping a close eye on your audio page for more of your songs though, I like them!:D

Author's Response:

Ahh Melody, Melody, Melody. That mut have been why I would hum whenever I played the song. Good point on that one, and Ill keep the repetitive 7th's in mind. Or any sort of overdone repitition.

Maybe another instrument would do fine in this peice. I oughta try it out. Violin or somethin, a horn.

Thanks for your review though :)

Hey, not much can really be said except great job...
Just to help me out though, what exactly do the lyrics say? Like what is the general sense of it?

Author's Response:

yo yo,
like i said b4, typical cheesy love song really. keep an eye on the audio forum lounge, i'll get wintang to post the lyrics i sent him at the time, they are a bit dodgy i think coz i was having trouble reverse translating them, i have a terrible short term memory.

"Nicely Done"

This song is DEFINATELY deseriving of it's platinum mark, no doubt. The part I liked most about it was the chord progression at the beginning; where it starts in a minor key, goes down a major third and then goes up one tone, AWESOME!!! You should be proud of yourself... I have a question though, how long would you say it took you to make this though?
Anyways, great job

Author's Response:

This took me about 4 days or so. I had to notate everything out (not play it into the computer), so it was much more difficult. Every single note you hear was manually clicked into the computer.

Thanks for the review!!

This is a very delicate song, I just wish that their were a little more instruments...
Also, the ending is a little sudden! I was listening to is and suddenly it just finishes! I was actually incredibly suprised! Oh well, you did a great job, you should be proud of yourself. 5/5 from me.

"Fine, just fine"

date: October 8, 2006

This is a great song, I could really see it being used in an animation. But, I think that you didn't have a good enough drum-line, I wish that you would do something more, and take out the clap, and put in a snare.

Otherwise, great job.

"Simply Great"

date: October 5, 2006

Every single aspect of this song is beautiful. You should really be SO proud of yourself. The only problem I had with this song is that there were too many false endings. You know, where you think the song is over but then it is not? Oh well. You did a pretty damn good job buddy.

I know my stuff isn't quite as good as yours, but I would be happy if you gave it a look-over.

This song is incredibly easy to visualize in some sort of a romance animation, well done.

Be sure to check out some of my stuff.
